Is It Love

By: Norton Buffalo

The Knockouts (Dave, Johnny, Tyler)
David Mathews: Piano
Peter Welker: Trumpet
Darius Russo: Tenor Sax

It was a chance meeting on a city street
You gave a casual nod
You never lost a beat
Then you turned around
And you caught my eye
When you came running, child
My arms were open wide

Chorus: Is it love
Oh now babe
Is it love
Is it love that Iím feeling
When you put your arms around me

There was a streetlight shining
In your pretty blue eyes baby
Iíve got to admit
You caught me by surprise
But I know what I like babe
I like you a lot
Somethiní 'bout you darling
Makes my blood run hot

Chorus

Now thereís a Boardwalk spot
Where all the hot cats meet
Itís down eight blocks
And across the street
Theyíve got a jukebox there baby
Itís playing our song
We can dance little girl
Till the break of dawn

Chorus

The dawn is breakiní
Way down low
Wrapped up in your arms
Danciní Oh so slow
Soon theyíll be talking
All over town
About the night we shook
The Boardwalk down

Chorus

Let Me Be Your Man

By: Norton Buffalo

Norton Buffalo: Harmonica, Vocals, Organ
The Knockouts (Dave, Johnny, Tyler)

It takes two to start a spark
And if things go right
Two can make the kind of love
That lasts a whole long life
It takes two to do the tango
Two to rock and roll
It took you to start that feeling
Deep inside my soul

Chorus: Take my hand
Understand
Iíll treat you right
You know I can
Come on sweet baby
Let me be your man

Man canít swim the ocean
Though some may spin the tale
Man canít walk on water
He may try to no avail
A man can live his life alone
With no woman for his bride
The more I get to know you girl
I want you by my side

Chorus

My life has had some tumbles
My heart has felt the pain
Each time I learned a lesson
And got on my feet again
I swore Iíd never give my heart
Fall in love like such a fool
But right now Iíve got the feeling
That Iím about to break that rule

Chorus

Norton Buffalo: Harmonica, Vocals, Trombone
The Knockouts (Dave, Johnny, Tyler)
David Mathews: Piano
Merl Saunders: B3 Organ
Peter Welker: Trumpet
Darius Russo: Tenor Sax
Michael Carabello: Congas

Sittiní down low in my front seat
My babyís by my side
Got a full tank in my Pontiac
Gonna take her for a ride
Down this highway
Weíll be moviní
We got good tunes on the radio, to keep us grooviní
Long flat blacktop
Stretched out straight in a line
Weíve got no set destination
Weíll just cruise and take our time

You know that
Chorus: Iím the king of the highway
In my ragtop sixty five
I get my thrill behind the wheel
Yes I was born to drive

Sheís a cool clean ragtop
Jet black, lots of chrome
Bright flames on the fenders
You know, this car was made to roam
She got brand new blood red Naugahyde
Tuck and roll front and back
More power than a locomotive
Thatís a rolliní down the railroad track
Sheís got a terrible thirst for gasoline
And a motor that was built to last
And if Iím ever in a hurry, I never have to worry
Cause this baby can go real fast

Donít you know that
Chorus

Move over little closer honey
This car is far too wide
I wanna put my arms around you
Move over here by my side
Feel the sunshine on your shoulders
Feel the wind blowing through your hair
I feel the tingle of your fingers
Feel your kisses in my ear
The way you touch me
You know I want you
This carís gettiní hard to drive
The highwayís goiní by much faster
Better pull it off on the side

Cause,
Chorus

The Odds Are Against Us

By: Norton Buffalo

Norton Buffalo: Harmonica, Vocals
The Knockouts (Dave, Johnny, Tyler)
David Mathews: Piano, B-3 Organ

The odds are against us
So why do we try
You keep sayiní youíre leavin
But you just canít say goodbye
The tide is rolliní in
And the blue is settling down
Day is coming near
When you wonít be around
Wonít be around
To share your world with me

Trials and tribulations
Are goiní through my mind
Good loviní comes easy
But itís so very, very hard to find
Now that our love has grown
And itís feeliní oh so right
Donít think I could stand baby
To hear you say goodnight
Just turn out the light
And spend your life with me

Iím knocking at your heart
Darliní wonít you let me in
You know itís cold outside
And I sure could use a friend
Weíll start a fire of love
Guaranteed to keep us warm
Days filled with happiness
Wrapped up in your arms
In your arms
Iíll share my world with you

Hoodoo Roux

By: Norton Buffalo

Norton Buffalo: Harmonica, Vocals
The Knockouts (Dave, Johnny, Tyler)
David Mathews: Piano

I would walk across the desert
Bare feet cross the burning sand
I would swim the widest ocean
Use all my strength to reach dry land
I would climb the highest mountain
Through the cold and drifting snow
Iíd run the gauntlet of a thousand men
Just to get back to your door
You know Iím crazy bout you baby
Every word I say is true
I would do anything that it takes little girl
To prove my love to you
I would fight the fiery dragon Ďtill his braggin days are through
Iíd put my life out on the line for you girl
Just to prove my love to you

I saw a gypsy woman and a voodoo queen
They gave me a black cat bone and a cobra spleen
Some rooster blood, some alligator skin
Just a pinch of dust from the places weíve been
Now on a full moon night, hereís what Iíll do
Iím gonna mix it up into a hoodoo roux
Weíll drink it together from a silver cup
Then youíll feel my love start to fill you up
You know Iím crazy bout you baby
Every word I say is true
I would do anything that it takes little girl
To prove my love to you
I prayed with high priests and a rabbi
I talked to the Dali Lama too
To help me find my way inside your heart
So I can prove my love to you

Iím so glad that Iíve found her
That cute little woman of mine

Swinginí and swayiní as she walked
Let me tell you fellas, sheís so fine
Iím so happy that she is mine

Iíve had some girls that were sweet as honey
Iíve had some women that had lots of money
When we walk all the men stop and stare
Those other chicks donít even compare

Iím gonna love her till the day that I die

When I come home in the evening
After working hard all day
She takes me in her arms
And chases all my blues away

Chorus

Just like a baby
With a brand new toy
Makes me feel so happy
Got to shout for joy

Chorus

The way she makes me feel
When we kiss
Donít you know
That I canít resist

Other women donít mean nothing
They donít even catch my eye
Iím out of circulation baby

Line Of Fire

By: Norton Buffalo

Norton Buffalo: Harmonica, Vocals, Conga
The Knockouts (Dave, Johnny, Tyler)
David Mathews: Piano
Merl Saunders: B-3 Organ

Iím standiní in the line of fire
Takiní hits both high and low
Deceived by my heartís one desire
How it came to this Iíll never know
Itís time for me to face the facts
Babyís gone ainít coming back
Sheís not in love anymore

For so many years I took for granted
That our vows of love would never fail
But there were other men that she enchanted
And she lied to cover up her trail
Itís time for me to face the facts
Babyís gone ainít coming back
Sheís not in love anymore

I thought my woman was so much better
Than to treat her man so dog gone mean
By throwiní away the love we shared together
To be the queen of a low life party scene
Itís time for me to face the facts
Babyís gone ainít coming back
Sheís not in love anymore

Iím moviní on, I know itís over
Canít stand her cheatiní ways no more
Thereís so many wrongs that Iíve uncovered
Itís time for walkiní out that door
Itís time for me to face the facts
Babyís gone ainít coming back
Sheís not in love anymore

I'm Tore Down

By: Sonny Thompson

Norton Buffalo: Harmonica, Vocals, Trombone
The Knockouts (Dave, Johnny, Tyler)
David Mathews: Piano
B-3 Organ

Chorus: Iím tore down baby
Almost level with the ground
Iím tore down baby
Almost level with the ground
You know I feel like this
When my baby canít be found

I went to the river, to jump in
My baby showed up and said "I will tell you when"

Chorus

I love you darliní with all my heart and soul
Love like ours will never grow old
I love you in the morning
In the night time too
But every time you leave me baby I get mad with you

Chorus

I love you darliní with all my might
Love like ours is dynamite
Iíd lie for you baby if you want me to
But I donít believe that your love is true

Chorus

I Know I'm Fallin'

By: Norton Buffalo

Norton Buffalo: Harmonica, Vocals
The Knockouts (Dave, Johnny, Tyler)
David Mathews: Piano
Merl Saunders: B-3 Organ

Note was on the door
Babyís gone canít stand my drinkiní
Sawdust on the floor
My glass is empty Iím here thinkiní
What made me do the things I done
That made her leave me on the run
Run on back to mama

I saw you yesterday
You was dining with that uptown lawyer
But I hear he donít get no pay baby
But he gets your loviní I done saw ya
Wonít say I donít need you, cause I do
I need your loviní
To pull me through, now now baby
Itís just that drinkiní can so easily bring me down
Baby hang around I know Iím falliní

So be on your way
The judge done made that proclamation
But Lord I hope and pray
That the train donít ever leave that station

Wonít say I donít need you, cause I do
I need your loviní
To pull me through, now now now baby
Itís just that drinkiní can so easily bring me down
Baby hang around I know Iím falliní
Baby hang around I know Iím falliní

The Monkey & The Man

By: Norton Buffalo

Norton Buffalo: Harmonica, Vocals

I was walkin' through the jungle drinkin' coconut wine
When a monkey came swingin' down from a tree
He snuck up from behind me
Jumped up on my back
Then that monkey got a hold on me
I tried to shake him off
As hard as I could
But his grip just kept on gettin' stronger
I hope it's just a bad dream
That will be gone when I awake
Cause I don't think I can stand it too much longer

Won't somebody help me
Get this monkey off my back
Can't you see he's drivin' me blind
What can I do
To make him go away
Before I start to lose my mind

So I went to see Mr. Lion
I said "Hey! you're king of the jungle,
Please tell this monkey to up and go away"
Mr. Lion, he said "Now son, there ain't nothin' I can do
Not as long as that there monkey wants to stay"
"Oh I could pull and I could tug
Trying to break him loose
But that monkey he'd put up a terrible fight!"
"And you know, in that fight son, that monkey could mess you up
Cause he's hangin' on to you with all his might"

Won't somebody help me
Get this monkey off my back
Can't you see he's drivin' me blind
What can I do
To make him go away
Before I start to lose my mind

So I went to Mr. Snake
To help me with my fix
Cause he's so sneaky and so cunning
And so very full of tricks
I said, "Whatever can I do to rid myself of this here burden"
Mr. Snake he said "Now son, there's only one thing thatís for certain"
"That there monkey got a hold on you
so tight your head is turning blue
And you know a monkey can always smell a trick"
"Why, if I were you, I'll tell you Jim,
I'd find out if that dude can swim,
Just go down yonder and jump into the crick"

Won't somebody help me
Get this monkey off my back
Can't you see he's drivin' me blind
What can I do
To make him go away
Before I start to lose my mind

Well that monkey was a swimmer
All he did was laugh and howl
So wet and tired and desperate
I went to Mr. Owl
I said "Oh king of wisdom could you help me with my case?"
"With this monkey on my back, the folks all treat me with disgrace"
Well that owl he didn't hesitate after taking one quick glance
He said, "Go lay upon your back on top that hill of ants
and as soon those ants start to bite and that monkey starts to scratch"
"He'll take his hands up off your neck, now thatís when you must detach"
Well I did just what he told me, and that monkey ran off screaming
And I thanked old Mr. Owl so graciously for my redeeming

So just remember when you're walking
Through the jungle drinkin' wine
To keep a lookout up above
For monkeys on the vine
